Outstanding Mimbres Bowl with Geometric Pattern, Vivid!

AN OUTSTANDING WORK OF ART FROM A TRULY TALENTED POTTER. This bowl is a generous ten inches in diameter and five inches tall and dates from the Classic Mimbres period of 950-1250AD. It has been re-assembled from several large pieces and has some professional restorataion to the white center area to decrease the size of the "kill" hole and improve the outstanding visual elements of the piece. The cracks remain on the exterior of the bowl. The slip is a pure white and the black mineral paint is in excellent condition and very dark in color with no chips or worn areas. The bowl has four repeating design elements with pendant triangles near the rim surrounded by a white band with "bow tie" designs filled with fine parallel black lines accentuating the three black triangles dangling below. Note the four floating triangle elements with serrated bases. They make the bowl much more interesting since they form a four sided white element in the center which makes the white area appear to be serrated as well. The interior rim of the bowl has seven beautifully drawn fine lines circling the entire interior. Note in the close up photo the element almost appears to be a stylized avian form depending on your visual interpretation. This bowl is guaranteed authentic and was acquired legally according to all State and Federal Laws. Such imagination and use of design elements created in the American Southwest a thousand years ago is amazing.
