Fantastic Mimbres Bowl with Ancient Repair Holes
A BEAUTIFULLY BALANCED AND VISUALLY STRIKING LARGE MIMBRES CLASSIC BOWL! This beauty measures a full eleven inches in diameter and a full six inches high and includes two ancient repair holes more common to the Maya. It dates from A.D. 900-1250 and is fairly amazing in its complexity. It is divided into four quadrants of beautifully balanced design. The first design element that “hits” the eye is a four pointed star made up of a broad white band. On further examination you will spot four rectangles with very fine line workmanship within which accentuates the broad white bands. The star shape is once again repeated with fine lines inside triangles below the white band. Inside the center star and surrounded by another wide white band are four square elements with a serrated edge on one side. The clear white slipped center is outlined by a medium sized brown band. The slip is truly a pure white and the design elements are a dark chocolate brown. The bowl had a very large “kill hole” in the center white area which is now restored; other restoration over the break lines with the exterior cracks remaining. The artistic talent involved is eye-popping gorgeous. This bowl is guaranteed authentic and was acquired legally according to all State and Federal Laws. They don’t come much better than this!
