A fine Quimbaya anthropomorphic figure from Colombia, ca. 1200 – 1400 AD. This standing male is 6-3/4” high and is posed with hands grasping the sides of the torso. Ears and nose are perforated for attachment of ornaments and he is covered with extensive mineral deposits.

A lovely Nicoya portrait jar from Costa Rica, ca. 750 – 1250 AD. It is 3-1/4” in diameter and depicts an individual adorned with ear ornaments and facial décor. The upper section of the chamber is decorated with various geometric designs, most likely representing a ceremonial headdress. The large eyes indicate the portrayal of an individual in a state of drug induced trance. Strong paint, good mineral deposits and calcified root marks.
