Jalisco Zoomorphic Vessel
An unusual Jalisco zoomorphic vessel from West Mexico, ca. 200 BC - 300 AD. It is 8-1/4” long and depicts an animal, perhaps a deer, standing on four feet. The tail forms a second spout, perhaps a mouthpiece for drinking or ingesting hallucinogenic substances. The highly burnished red slip of the body is decorated with a pair of serpents, painted in orange. In excellent condition, with good dendrites.
