Huari Globular Olla

A gorgeous Huari olla from Peru, ca. 700 - 1100 AD. It is 9-3/4" high and 9" in diameter. Specifically, this one should be accurately classified as a "Santa" piece (800 AD), a small Central Peruvian culture about which very little has been written. This Culture is considered a Huari regional derivative, but still an independent development. Beautiful polychrome avian and geometric designs decorate this large, globular vessel, with its unusual twisted handles. Except for the rim chip this impressive burnished vessel is intact.
