Nazca Polychrome Jar
A fine Nazca jar from Peru, ca. 200 – 300 AD. This excellent polychrome example is 6” high, 4-1/4” in diameter and features the “Unmasked Serpentine Creature”. The head of this mythical creature is that of a Pampas cat, which is combined with a serpentine body with scalloped edges. Vivid paint and good mineral deposits. Cf. Proulx “Sourcebook of Nasca iconography”, page 95.
