A fine Moche V Fineline bottle from Peru, ca. 550 - 700 AD. This lovely El Moro style vessel is 9" high and is decorated with two renditions of the Priestess in a Crescent Boat motif. This exceptionally eerie rendering of this character depicts the priestess wearing a mantle decorated with the gold ornaments befitting her elite status. Overall in excellent condition, with good mineral deposits. See Donnan "Moche Fineline Painting II", pages 162 - 173, for similar examples. |
