Japanese late Edo - early Meiji Period mid 19th century magnificent Satsuma lidded Jar with a silk clod-like design over the lid and upper part of the Jar, decorated with floral design. The center of the Jar depicts 12 Japanese year zodiac signs in mons - signs of a dragon, snake, horse, goat, monkey, rooster, dog, boar, rat, bull, tiger and a rabbit. The lower part of the Jar is decorated with various designs. 6 3/4" tall x 5 1/2" D.
