Big Japanese Meiji Period rectangular-shaped lidded Satsuma cobalt-blue Koro with pierced shimazu-cross shaped air-release holes. The Koro has 6 feet. It has a very fine and detailed hand-painting. It depicts a riverscape, mountains, Bamboo and houses on background , 14 women and four children in beautiful kimonos on coast. There are two women and a man in beautiful kimonos , in a boat. Another side depicts a scene of a tea-ceremony and an interior of a rich house with a view of waterfalls, mountains and a river on background.
There are 18 women, three men and a girl , also in beautiful kimonos, watching a dancing lady with a fan.
Cobalt -blue background has floral decorations with butterflies.
Top of the Koro and a lid have floral decorations with and unusual gilded final.
It is signed. There is an original gold decoration across the bottom. It has no wear to gold.
