Japanese wood lacquer mirror-shaped Suzuribaku
Japanese Meiji Period 19th century wood lacquer mirror - shaped Suzuribaku. It is finely decorated with a scene of two butterflies and flowers with flower blossoms and grass, made with maki-e and hiromaki-e techniques. The box has a complete set of ceramic unusually shaped suiteki (signed by the artist) and gilded ink-stone placed in mirror-imitating wood silver lacquer inner tray . The box is in good condition for its age. It has no losses over lacquer. 9 3/4" x 7 1/4" x 1 1/4"
