Japanese Edo Wood lacquer Okimono - Buddhist Monk
Japanese Edo Period late 17th - early 18th century wood lacquer Buddhist monk with glass inlaid eyes, on an original gilded two -tier lotus shaped wooden gilded base and a removable circle around his head. The okimono is removable from the base. The monk's face has life-like eyes and is very detailed. It has normal age wear on the kimono and some wear on monk's head, which is appropriate for the age of the okimono. Otherwise, it is in excellent condition. 26" tall x 9 3/4" wide.
