Big Japanese tripod Satsuma Jar
Big museum quality Japanese Meiji Period tripod Satsuma covered Jar with a very fine decoration with two large panels - one with a spring scene with a festival with many people , some with umbrellas; Cherry blossoms, temple, bridge, houses and mountain on the background.Hand-painting and gilding is very fine. The opposite oval decorative scroll is decorated with a temple, surrounded with a scene with Wisteria blossoms, flowers and mountains and flying birds. It is also finely hand-painted and detailed. Multiple floral colorful symbolic decorations are made with exclusive details, low-relieved dots, all around the jar and a lid. Symbolic decorations stripe lines are made on the lower part of the jar and the top of a lid. Beautiful leaves are painted over the top of a lid, too. The interior of the lid has a scene with five butterflies. The Jar is signed by Izumiyama. It is 13 1/2" tall x 9 1/2" D.
