Top quality big Japanese Meiji Period (1868-1912) ivory and shibayama inlaid and wonderfully hand-painted fan, signed by the artist. The fan has indescribable impressive shibayama decorations, scenes of paradise birds, people under rain (some under umbrellas) and various floral decorations,
The signature of the artist is located on left side of the painting with people.
The handles have low relived shibayama with berries, leaves, flies and butterflies on them. There are no missing parts.
The fan is in excellent condition with minimum wear; it opens and closes fine. All shibayama inlays are intact. Ivory has original age patina and a high hand polishing.
