Rare Japanese Meiji Period (1868-1912) Studio Porcelain Vase with an uneven chocolate color background glazing and gold painting. It is signed by a famous Gosuke Kato who was a manufacturing chief of Anji Nishiura III at Ichinokura at the beginning of the Meiji Era. There are red export marks next to the signature of the artist. The Vase depicts scene with magnificent detailed butterflies and floral decorations, there is a symbolic wide stripe over the upper part of the vase. The bottom of the vase is of an unusual shape. 9" tall.
