Big important Japanese Meiji period tripod Satsuma Koro, signed by the artist. It has a sculpture of shishi on a lid and handles with leafage, flowers and plums design. The Koro is finely decorated with two big decorative scrolls on front and back, one scroll depicting a standing samurai with a sword and a woman, and another one with a walking samurai with a sword and a smaller samurai among clouds. The legs of the koro have low-relieved mystic heads. The background of Koro has family mon and other decorations. The top of the Koro is also finely detailed and has two air-release holes. 13 3/4" tall x 9 1/4" D
