Important Japanese Museum quality Meiji Period (1868-1912) shibayama inlaid fantastically hand-carved wood lidded Tobacco Box with a tobacco pipe case and a pipe, signed by Shuosai . It is decorated with monkeys with inlaid eyes and peach tree branches. The inlays are made with amber, ivory, and turquoise. The ojime is made in a shape of a fine carved monkey with inlaid eyes, definitely is original to the box. The tobacco pipe case is made from horn; pipe is made from silver and bamboo. Box is 4" x 2 3/4" x 2 3/4" ojime is 1" pipe case is 8" pipe is 7 1/2"
