An Exceptionally Gorgeous Antique Genuine Japanese Akoya Pearl Strand Necklace, Art Deco, c1940, With Fine Hand Detailed Silver and Pearl Clasp. The necklace is composed of 105 genuine cultured akoya ocean pearls. They are genuine salt water Akoya ocean pearls from a wonderful estate collection. The pearls are very fine quality with gorgeous matched color and a luminous glow that reflects bits of pink in the light. It is quite a process to find as many beautifully matched, round graduated pearls as seen here in this piece. The Mikimoto pearl company often times sold their extra pearls to other pearl companies in Japan in the 1940's. Given the history of these pearls and the high quality, this may very well have been the case. The pearls are graduated from approximately 3 to 7mm. The strand measures approximately 18 3/4 inches in length from clasp to pearl end. They are finished of with a lovely Art Deco clasp composed of high grade silver, with beautiful ornate hand engraved detail and a matched pearl upon its center. They date circa 1940 and in lovely estate condition.
