A Wonderful Rare Example of an Original Antique Cameo Brooch - Necklace Pendant, Art Nouveau Period, circa 1890, Artist Signed. The Cameo portrays a lovely full figural carving of a woman draped in Grecian gowns with Art Nouveau lines in the background. The Cameo is hand carved, probably in Italy around 1890 and is signed by the artist in the back making this a true gallery piece of estate jewelry. The cameo itself measures about 1 ¾ inches by about 1 5/16 inches wide (about 4.3cm x 3.4cm). It is very rare that you find a cameo like this one…not the typical tourist-type carving made for export. It is beautifully set in solid 9 carat Gold with almost a Victorian Rose hue. The bezel is lovely with Antique Filigree design with Etruscan ball detail. The piece can be worn as a substantial brooch or as a pendant from the loop at the top. The entire piece measures about 2 ¼ inches long by about 1 ¾ inches wide and is in exceptionally nice estate condition (about 5.5cm x 4.5cm). Rarely do I come across examples quite as nice as this.
