Good strand of ancient Chinese beads made from calcified jade circa 3000 – 4000 years old. There is one tapered agate bead that I acquired with this lot but am not sure if it is related to the same site these were found. L: 49cm/19.2in. Free registered airmail shipping. See last image for reference.

Late Qing Dynasty large “lock” charm. Incised on one side, are the usual characters of wealth, health and longevity and on the other side “together forever” is inscribed, which is uncharacteristically romantic and sentimental for Chinese charms wishing the owner for a long and happy relationship. This would make a great gift for a lover or spouse. Good condition with a couple of “flea bite” sized chips and naturally occurring inclusions...

Circa Yuan to Ming Dynasty grayish white heat treated “Smokey jade”, nephrite jade with sinuous archaic Chilong carved on three sides. The hole is new and the ends have been reworked at a later date. As the faces of the Chilongs have been cut off on one end, I am assuming that this was originally longer and then cut to hide some chips or damage...

Collection of eight Dian Kingdom chalcedony “nipple beads” circa 400 BCE to 100 BCE. These button like ornaments were unique to this culture. These were used in decorating bronze buckles, funeral shrouds as well as clothing and strung as beads. The Dian were a fierce and independent kingdom living in the vicinity of Dianchi Lake in Yunnan Province which chronologically paralleled the Warring States and Han Dynasties, which was eventually annexed by the Han Emperor Wudi in 109 BCE...

Quirky polished bone implement from Inner Mongolia, might be from a human radius but could be from a sheep as well, I honestly don’t know. Very old, probably a couple of hundred years at least. IMHO this is a Tantric ritual object. Given the availability of metal it would make sense if it had a secular practical use it would have been much easier to make one out of that rather than go to the trouble of making it out bone, unless it has some sort spiritual significance...

Fine old Chinese nephrite jade, circa Tang Dynasty or earlier. This piece has been crisply cut and polished on all sides and edges, the tiny holes drilled front and back indicate that this piece was possibly a garment fastener which was held on with either gold or silver wire. An excellent study piece for the new collector. 5.8cm/2.3in x 3.2cm/1.4in.

Nice circa Qing Dynasty pendant/toggle of a monkey on a leaf carved from carnelian. There is one small chip on the back of the hole noted in 3rd enlargement. Included is an adjustable macramé cord, Peking glass multi colored bead and free shipping via Hong Registered Airmail.

Lovely carved nephrite pendant with classic “cat on a leaf” motif. This piece has been re-carved to appear as the cat is sitting on a peapod (peapods being one of the myriad of C hinese symbols wishing one to have many children), but was really done to hide the damage on the sides of a larger leaf. This sill retains it’s essence of “kittyness” as she reposes languidly on the leaf. L: 7cm/2.8in.

Ensemble of six Qing Dynasty red agate and carnelian pieces carved into babies, bats and a “foo” dog face. Originally these were meant to be sewn on clothing- possibly a woman's cap, now they are strung on a macraméd faux silk chord. tThe pieces tend to hang too close together in the center or may be worn as a choker- a possible remedy might be to insert a wire into the chord to stiffen it up a bit...

Two chalcedony pendants circa Warring States to Han Dynasty. I have been told by knowledgeable jade collectors these used as curtain weights; please see last enlargement for referenced dating to at least Han Dynasty from Sparkling Splendours: The Taoshi Zhai Collection. There are a couple of inclusions in the smaller white one and some deep staining on the larger one indicating that this was buried with a metallic object for quite sometime. Scale is in enlargement 6...

Ensemble of old beads from Tibet. The carnelian and two rounded agates came off an old malla (strand of prayer beads), I picked up in front of The Jokang in Lhasa, many years ago and the large banded agate came from a private collection (ex Peter Francis bead researcher), and I forgot where I picked up the turquoise bead from. These are all over 100 years old probably much older. Scale in enlargements.

Good Qing Dynasty Jadeite oval plaque with beveled edge. This was most likely set into a Ruyi scepter or belt fastener. There are a few tiny chips on the unpolished edge as this side would be set into a mounting I consider them negligible. L: 5.7cm/2.2in, W: 4.cm1.6in and .5cm/.2in thickness.

Liao or Jin Dynasty red agate horse fitting, circa 10th CE – 12th CE carved in a domed “T” shape. Very interesting chalcedony bead with small human figure carved intaglio on the bottom, accompanying it is an old carnelian bead. It was sourced in China however it resembles much more of a Sassanid or Gandharan artifact than a Chinese one. Guaranteed to be over a thousand years old, and probably much more. 2.3cm/.9in length. The figure is very difficult to photograph so you’ll just have to take my word for it that it is there.
