Asian trade beads
Good ensemble of quartz, and glass beads from Thailand. I purchased these in Mae Sot along the Thai/Burmese border which means they are probably from the Tak Hilltop Burial Sites, dating them circa 1100-1300CE. This area was part of ancient trading route in which, Thai, Burmese, Vietnamese and Chinese ceramics have been found together in the same strata. Most of glass beads are of Chinese origin while the stone beads are probably much older (late bronze age circa 600CE), but have been traded through the centuries. The small tubular beads are called Indo Pacific Trade Beads, a bit vague but at least they are well documented. Please note scale in enlargements is metric and condition as is plainly visible in close ups. Total length 70cm/27in.
