| Intricately carved and rare fortune telling bamboo receptacle used for holding oracle sticks. I picked this up in a local market in Guangxi Province in China about 15 years and (in my opinion) is probably from a Yi group in Guizhou, to the north. The Zhuang, Yao and Miao are the most Sinicized of the minorities in this area. Most notably lacking on this piece are any signs of Chinese auspicious symbols or characters with the exception of the coin symbol (circle with square inside). The geometric and linear patterns on this piece most closely resembles the designs you see on Yi lacquerware, it is in excellent condition with traces of red lacquer and no cracks or damage and is circa 60 to 80 years old. H: 11.9cm/4.8in and D: 5.2cm/2.1in. | ||||||||||
