Thai silver and copper alloy “coins” from the Northern Thai Lanna Kingdom, circa 1700 or earlier. All have traces of old gold colored lacquer similar to what was used on Buddhist images of the period, which makes them fairly easy to date. These were most likely minted in Chiang Mai and were still used by the hill tribes the region after Lanna was assimilated into the Greater Thai Kingdom and the introduction of western style flat coins in the late 19th century. Please note scale is in centimeter in enlargement #2.
