Very eclectic and possibly one of a kind pottery tiger with traces of lead glaze, (please view last 2 enlargements). This piece is a molded tile and is some sort of token or amulet, as I have never seen this type of artifact documented, given its glaze and style I can date this from the late Western Han to Western Jin Dynasties, circa 100 BCE to 300CE. There are numerous examples of the style of face in Jin celadon vessels from the Zhejiang kiln. The legs have been damaged and ground down to an even plane. This is an individual piece and not part of any frieze. L: 11cm/4.2in and H: 5cm/2in.
