| Very rare bronze image of a Chinese fairy holding a lotus leaf on his head. This may be a reference to having many sons as the image of a boy carrying a lotus over his shoulder is a common motif in Qing and Ming jade carvings. Lovely typically Ming round face with fine black patina. The two back supporting legs of the base look to be intentionally cut off some time ago as the cut edge is worn and well patinaed. There is an incised Chinese character inside the base but cannot make out what it means. Included is a museum quality custom made perspex base. Actual height without base is 16cm/6.2. | |||||||||
