Zhuang blanket
~Sold to Denmark, tusend tak!~ $1000.USD

Very fine and rare blue and white brocade blanket made with handspun cotton thread and natural indigo from the Zhuang minority from Northern Guangxi Zhuang province. This textile has an exceptionally tight weave and is circa 40 to 60 years old, two panels hand stitched together with a 10cm/4in contemporary hand-woven black cotton border. Please view the enlargements for a more accurate depiction the colors as they appear in "real life" and also note that the variations in tones of blue are original and not due to lighting. The production of such a piece might take a couple of months of a weaver's spare time so it was difficult to get the dye batches consistent, then again this might just be their sense of aesthetic. Actual original textile dimensions, L: 152cm/6ft and W: 80cm/31in.
