| Very unusual and complexly carved lapis lazuli bead, most likely from Afghanistan. This was purchased in Peshawar, Pakistan about 10 years ago. Difficult to really give it any significant confirmable date other then this piece is real old, probably several hundreds of years, possibly Sassanid or even earlier. Every other “spoke” on the edge is alternately drilled all the way to the central hole, one can assume this was from a larger ensemble and was inset with other stones. A very nice almost cobalt blue.
