| Exceptionally fine and rare Lao Buddha, circa 15th/16th centuries. Very unusual Lao Buddha from Luang Prabang, this piece is cast in the classic style rather than the more “folk” type images usually seen from this region. The elegant bhumiparsa mudra shows a strong affinity with early Ayutthaya Buddhas and his short earlobes are quite atypical but the spiky and neatly arranged curls on the head are found only on Lao Buddhas. Excellent condition, this piece came from a private home and has been well cared for over the centuries. H: 19cm/7.5in and W: (at base) 13cm/5.1in. | |||||||||||||||
