Jun saucer

Interesting Jun glazed bowl from Shekwan. Difficult to date, oldish (at least 30 or 40 years- possibly even Republic). The glaze and shape faithfully recreates the Jun wares of the Song/Yuan era but the slip is a dead giveaway to its Shekwan origins. My interpretation of this piece is it is a “homage” to Junyao rather than an attempted fake. From a ceramicist’s point of view it is a technically excellent and well crafted piece. There is one shallow chip on the foot rim, otherwise in perfect condition. D: 14.9cm/5.8in and H: 3.3cm/1.2in
