| Fine and rare Tang Dynasty cosmetic box made from heavy white clay with a white slip, and covered with a greenish transparent glaze. In excellent condition the glaze and slip are 98% (more or less) intact, there is some very minor fritting on the top outer edge (noted in enlargement #7), on lower half above the foot a band of glazed was pared off prior to firing and is part of the original design of the box, (noted in enlargement #5). This piece has not been cleaned other than to have been rinsed with a bit of water. D: 7.7cm/3in and H: 4.7cm/1.8in. | ||||||||||||
