Song Tortoiseshell bowls

Exceptionally fine and rare matched pair of Song Dynasty Jizhou type tortoiseshell small bowls. I have included a photo from Schatzman Collection- “Dark Jewels” which shows a similarly glazed piece from the Yonghe kilns, Ji’ an, Jiangxi. I have listed another piece similar to these in terms in the shape of the foot rim (item #1569) which may be searched on my website for comparison. These are in excellent original condition, for this type of glaze, which is usually heavily degraded. There is one fissure in the center of one bowl (noted in enlargements) which was caused by a shallow firing crack under the glaze that does not go all the way through the body. There are a few tiny frits on the bodies of these pieces which is typical for this ware and one tiny chip on the mouthrim of one, too small to photograph. D: 8.8cm/3.5in and H: 4cm/1.5in.
