| Fine and rare turned ivory finial for a Thai traditional hat. In that it is made of ivory indicates it was only used during important occasions such as religious performances (Ramayana etc) or royal processions. It is shaped in the style of a spire of a chedi (stupa), and has a strong Buddhist (as most things Thai) connotation. It is quite an old piece at least 100 years or more, and was sourced recently in Northern Thailand. There are natural age cracks and has an excellent original color, patina as well as a tiny chip at the bottom noted in enlargements. L: 20cm/7.9in. | ||||||||||
