She must have danced the night away with sparks flying while wearing this much loved Art Deco era vintage antique circa 1935 knotted wedding cake foil Venetian glass necklace strand, with beads made of applied glass layers in the French pate de verre fashion. Enjoy the colors of Bermuda blue green aqua foil, pink red rosettes and possibly real silver and hits of copper, all ending in a hidden self bead closure.
1.9 oz or 56 grams
Yields: 25" with 8mm hidden bead clasp engaged. May once have been rhodium plated brass v push, which can be seen un engaged in the center of image 1.
Graduates from 16mm center to 6mm for a total of 57. Knotted with old golden yellow cord.
Construction: milk white base, with applied shiny bermuda aqua green brilliant foil, a dimpled application of yellow ochre on white, tiny sheets that appear to be real silver and maybe tiny copper layers, as the tarnishing affect creates a nice shadow background for the applied swirls of red and pink to form the rosettes.
Condition: some have the color elements off, leaving some of the white and ecru layers and not quite as yellow as seen above. As a painter, I find that the exposed lighter layers create a nice background for the color to shine through. These should be re knotted and although the hidden push round clasp holds, a safety chain would add some security. These have been truly enjoyed and should continue to be loved! Please examine both images to appreciate.
