| One enamel painting is more beautiful than the other. This choice box features 4 separate enamel paintings. On the top, 8 royal persons are dining & toasting in a grand dining room dressed in colorful and formal attire. On the bottom, couples are strolling & seated in a large hall. The interior top enamel painting depicts a water fountain in a garden, near some water and the interior bottom painting is of another garden scene in the front with a city scape in the background. 2 hallmarks appear on the bottom silver-gilt lip of the box. Birds, baskets, and garlands of flowers decorate the outer bottom while the outer top is decorated in a variety of colored flowers. An inch from the center, on the top edge of the box, there is a small nick in the enamel & another even smaller nick at the very edge, about 2 1/2" to the right of the center. Otherwise, the condition of this piece is remarkable. It measures 4" by 3 1/8 by 15/15" deep. One rarely sees such a fine enamel box, a real piece of table-jewelry! This is truly a fine objet de virtue, meant for the collector of fine enamels, boxes, and art. | ||||||||
