Beautiful, pot shaped Japanese bamboo basket by Tanabe Chikuunsai I. Basket looks very sophisticated and gentle, although itfs woven with simple technique, yotsume-ami. This fine and beautiful bamboo flower basket was woven flatten thin bamboo. The design can be found in the works of Hounsai who worked in the west of Japan between Taisho(1912-1926) and the beginning of Showa(1926-1989). 11 1/2 in. (29cm) high by 16 1/2 in. (42cm) wide, unsigned. It is in good condition.
