| Rhomboid shaped beautiful Japanese bamboo basket by Iizuka Rokansai. Rim is oval shape. Strips are woven with yotsume-ami (pattern of four aquares weaving), and some are in irregular weave. Whole basket looks being woven loosely, but have a clean and good posture. Texture is shiny moderately and beautiful. Great condition. Signed by Rokansaion the bottom. Size: height 42cm, width 28cm, depth 22cm. Showa period Iizuka Rokansai(1890-1958): One of the most important and well-known bamboo master, sixth child of Housai ‡T. Rokansai was conversant with calligraphy, haiku, and paintings, he lift up the bamboo basket to the one stable field of art form the folk craft since he honored various prizes worldwide and his exquisite techniques and sense . | |||||||||||||
