Serene and noble seihakuji koro by veteran and master potter Kishimoto Kennin. Published in an exhibition catalogue for a Takashimiya show (a xerox of the relevant pages are included) this seihakuji celadon koro is a classic example of Kishimoto's style and modernization of a traditional form. This koro is in excellent condition except one of the wing-like appendages was unfortunately damaged and has been repaired, please see the attached photo showing both sides of the area in question...

Three volume set of books on modern Japanese potters coving roughly 100 artist per volume with approximately 200 pages each and measuring about 10" x 8.5". Each volume is fully illustrated with a two page spread per potter which includes the name and address of each in English and the mark the potter uses on his pottery.

Large feudal style Shigaraki mizusashi by veteran potter; Ogawa Seiho. Fired in an anagama, there is rich ash deposits and hi-iro around the pot. This mizusashi is timeless with vintage style tsuchi-aji, clay flavor making for a wonderful and contemplative keshiki landscape.

The mizusashi measures 25 x 16 cm. and is in excellent original condition and comes with a custom made roiro black lacquer lid and its original signed box.

Rare black and white inlay vase by Kyoto master potter, Kondo Yutaka. Measuring 21.5 x 15cm this vase is cloaked in a black textured surface with impressed, inlay decoration of stark and contrasting white across the surface...

Classic and Momoyama inspired chaire in Oni-Shino style with a wide array of textures, varied coloration and a simple reed/pampas grass decoration carved through an iron-rich slip under a thick feldspathic glaze. The use of varying thicknesses of the Shino glaze not only accentuates the form but creates a moody and atmospheric appearance like mist clinging to a lakes edge...

Pair of richly glazed molded bottle vases by master potter, Kawai Takeichi. The taller leopard spotted tessha bottle is 9.2" x 5.9" and is in perfect condition. The smaller gosu blue with pale celadon like accents measures 7" x 4.4" and is also in perfect condition. Both of this vases come with their original signed boxes and both pieces are included in this single sale.

Kawai Takeichi (1908-1989), also known as Bu'ichi, had a long and illustrious career...

Exceptional stoneware vase that was subtly and expertly faceted, glazed in a rich nuka style glaze and decorated in Tale of Genji inspired partridges in platinum lustre. The presence and volume of the pot are hard to put in to perspective with the dimensions, 12" x 8.5" and a guinomi has been placed in the last photo to give a sense of the scale...

Classical kohiki, powdered slip chawan by Ogawa Tetsuo (b.1937). Rich full form that makes for an exceptional chawan with a fine lip and excellent kodai with some crinkled clay peaking through the slip as if emerging from melting clay, the potters forever frozen in the base of the bowl where the pot was dipped in slip. Simple and complex at the same time.

Though subtle, there is a power to kohiki ware that is most time lost in simple illustrations...

Casually thrown and slightly altered Momoyama inspired Oni-Shino mizusashi by Kajiura Soshu (b. 1916). Showing a wide array of surface variations including a thick Shino with large areas of an iron red and the bulk of the pot covered in deposited ash from an intense wood firing where the ash and Shino have fused together a rich jade green surface prevails both inside and out of the mizusashi...

Paddled water jar with Oribe and iron ash glaze accents. The jar has a slight lean to it as a result of the paddling.

Elegant and classical form vase covered in a thick, pale blue seihakuji glaze with a peach-bloom like blushed copper red accent across the face of the pot. The vase is glazed porcelain and is a blend of Chinese and Japanese influences and is in perfect condition with its original signed box. The vase measures 9.8" x 4.5".

This vase was made by veteran Kyoto potter and glaze magician, Morino Kako (1899-1987), father of Morino Taimei...

An extremely well fired Iga chawan by Shigaraki and Iga potter; Furutani Kazuya. This medieval styled chawan has a pleasant cylindrical form with areas of running ash, dusted ash and hi-iro along with clamshell impressions from where the bowl rested while being fired. The interior is coated in a rich olive toned ash and a thick pool of ash which built up due to the angle at which the chawan was placed in the kiln...

Saffron glazed water jar, covered jar, mizusashi with combed, kushime decoration in slip under the glaze which has run to create long partridge feather tendrils around the base of the pot. There are three gold lacquer dot additions around the form.
