Lyrical and whimsical porcelain tsubo by Ishira Akira with overglaze enamels in red, yellow, green and Persian blue decorating the pure white surface. The surface is covered in red enamel, aka-e style creating a floral framework for the three rabbits articulated around the circumference of the pot with accents in other shades of enamel. The brushwork is easily seen and studied and shows a delft and exceedingly experienced hand.

Ishira Akira (b. 1941) studied at the Tokyo national University of Fine Arts under Ningen Kokuho and exceptional teacher, Fujimoto Yoshimichi (Nodo). He opened his first kiln in 1969 and since that time has specialized in overglaze enamel work on porcelain. His works are both well published and exhibited through out Japan and he is one of the countries leading porcelain and enamel specialists.
This pot is in excellent condition,measures 7.35" x 6.3" and comes with its original signed box.
