| Extremely rare Italian hand-formed wax figure of a madonna standing on the world conquering evil in the form of a snake--believed to be called the madonna of the immaculate conception--the figure is attached inside a Baroque wood gilt shaped box 2 inches deep-box with madonna is 16 inches by 11 inches--hands of madonna are missing and there are losses to some of the background details--globe has some missing gesso--originally had a glass cover that was smashed years ago-wax on madonna has darkened-- the piece is over 200 years old-given the shape of the box housing it could even be older | |||||||||||
