This is a beautiful antique 830 sterling silver (standard for Austrian Sterling) asparagus serving tongs. They were made in Vienna, Austria circa 1890. These tongs were made in the very popular ONSLOW PATTERN, and would match anyones existing Onslow Pattern Sterling Flatware Set. The hands of the tongs are done in an interesting way, one of the sides is done in a ruffled manner (for better grip), while the other side is completely flat. The Onslow patternwork is on the tip of the handle - right by the curve. Underneath the design there is a monogram and a crown (probably a family crest) chased on to one of the arms. These would make an excellent gift for the upcoming Holidays.
