“This edition constitutes the most complete collection of original impressions of the 87 plates from Casserius legacy and the 20 added to them by Bacretius (drawn by O.Fialetti, engraved by F. Valegio). Casserius plates mark a new epoch in the history of anatomic representation, owing to the corrections of their anatomical drawing, their tasteful arrangement, and the beauty of their technical execution. And this all the more, since they cover the whole field of anatomy and have become the model for anatomical illustrations in copper.”
(9 plates replaced by photographic reproductions; a few marginal water stains; last few pages somewhat unclean).
