PLIQUE-A-JOUR FORK
Plique-a-Jour is a transparent backless colored enamel which is applied to specially prepared surfaces which allows light to stream through the enamel creating a beautiful stained glass effect. The transparent tip design of this fork is green, red, and gold enamel enclosed in twisted wire cells forming a delicate design. The reverse is marked 925 S ( which indicates the piece is sterling) and the maker's mark is OGK. The O is open on the left side. Dates about 1890. Probably Scandanavian. Excellent condition except for a slight hairline in the enamel at the base of the design but the enamel is not loose, and it is only noticeable with a jeweler's loop.
