| Vishnu, East India, Bengal Pala Period, 11th – 12th Bronze with strong green patina Height: 79,5 cm. Description: Standing Vishnu on a double lotus separate base. The deity, has four arms. The upper ones are holding two flowers making up a long necklace, with stems flanking and surrounding the body and joining on the knees. The mandala is formed by phitomorphic motifs and flames and a makara crowning the top. Long earrings adorned with flowers. Originally, this piece must be a part of a set with two servants attached as shown on a similar model which can be seen in the Cleveland Museum, reference: 1964.453 | ||
