One of the Finest Columbia River Gempoints w/video
I have decided to separate this point from my frame of Columbia River Gempoints shown on this website. I purchased this point from Intermountain Artifacts on 7-20-01. It was found by Ernie Cowles and was his favorite point. Randy purchased the entire Cowles collection in June of 2000 and said it was the finest point in the Cowles collection of over 5000 gempoints. Randy also said it was the finest all around Columbia River Gempoint he had ever seen. Ernie Cowles had one of the best known Columbia River collections which he screened (similar to panning for gold) in the 1950's. See "Stone Age on the Columbia River" by Emory Strong. This point is made from waxy glossy translucent agatized petrified wood. Yellow and red are the rarest and most sought after colors and I will tell you that this is the finest yellow I have ever seen. Although the tip is missing in antiquity, I agree that it is the finest overall Columbia River Gempoint I have ever seen. It is 2 inches long. It was made by a master knapper. There are no flat spots. The base is proportional and not broken. The base is hard to see in the pictures. An extremely rare type. Purchase this along with my aforementioned frame and my unique Columbia River precious fire opal point and you will have one of the finest Columbia River Gempoint collections in private hands or anywhere else. This point is the best of the best and the rarest of the rare from one of the best known collections. A point like this never comes on the open market. Why buy gold when you can pass an heirloom like this on to the grandkids. Please view my youtube video of this item at: http://www.youtube.com/embed/kV581fQTipk
