| This extremely rare museum quality Olmec maskette is made from high grade chloromelanite jadeite and dates to 1200-600BC. A paper by Leoncio A. Garza-Valdes and published in PreColumbian Jade from the Denver Conference on PreColumbian Jade held in 1987 at the Denver Art Museum concluded that chloromelanite jadeite is the true Imperial jade. This specific maskette is unique in that half of the face is Imperial Blue Jadeite and the other half is Imperial Green Jadeite symbolizing both water and plants/corn or life sustenance in general. It measures 2 1/2" long, 2" wide and 1" deep. It was authenticated by Dr. Frank Preusser who has more than 35 years of experience in the scientific examination of works of art and historical and archaeological artifacts. He was the chief scientist at the Doerner Institute in Munich and the Director of the J. Paul Getty Museum. He has consulted for UNESCO, the World Bank, the World Monuments Fund, and others. It was also authenticated by Stoetzerinc.com who is one of the foremost respected international authenticators who said this was one of the nicest pieces he had seen in a long time. Furthermore, they said "it is our opinion that this artifact is a fine representation of Olmec artistry and craftsmanship". It comes with his report. It was also authenticated by Orenda Forensic Labs who called this a world class piece and comes with their 10 page report. This is a spectacular maskette made from the highest quality jade and authenticated by the best experts. You may not see a finer one on the market in a lifetime.
