If you own the finest Columbia River gem point collection, this will be your centerpiece. It is the only AUTHENTICATED PRECIOUS FIRE OPAL POINT FROM OREGON KNOWN TO EXIST. This opal point was found in 1955 at the foot of Hart Mountain, Crump Lake area, Oregon, by Bob Rock, in the presence of the late Carroll Howe which I confirmed with a telephone call to Carroll. Carroll wrote four books on northwest material. There is an opal outcropping about 30 miles away that matches this type of opal. It measures 2.1 cm in height and .9 cm in width. This is a little more than 3/4 of an inch. The point is a bit on the clunky side, but if it was not, it would not display the colors like it does. Obviously made by a master knapper/ancient gemologist. There is no damage to the point anywhere. If you are a collector of Columbia River gem points, this is the best of the best and the rarest of the rare. It comes with an affidavit signed by Bob Rock. Because this point is so rare and precious, I had it examined by a forensic laboratory for authentication at the cost of $500. This testing goes well beyond the "top five" authenticators. It was authenticated as being at least 300 years old. The report is included. There are formations of deposits indicated in and over the tool signatures.
