This is one of the finest three dimensional jade carvings around. It is probably Mixtec, but could be Mayan. It was owned by Keith Finello and was auctioned by Sotheby's in May 1991, lot #405. It is ex-Manoogian collection. It is 1 3/8" long by 7/8" wide. The specific gravity tested as true Jadeite. It shows heavy mineralization. The carving is correct in all aspects. The rendition of the tongue is particularily noteworthy. This is a beatuiful authentic true jade bead that is very rare and unique. Museum quality.
