| This is an extremely rare and IMPORTANT pre-Columbian bat with double crocodile/cayman wings pendant from Costa Rica, C300BC-300AD. It is made from true jadeite that is a beautiful blue-green and is semi-translucent when backlit. It is 4" long, 1 1/8" wide and 1/4" thick. It is strung with 250 ancient jade and/or greenstone discs that were found together, but restrung with a modern gold clasp. It is laterally drilled for suspension. It is wearable. It is ex. private Philadelphia collection, collected prior to 1940. I have seen only 3 other of this type in this quality, 2 are at the Denver Art Museum and were not jade. I liked this one the best. It has been authenticated by a forensic laboratory, Orenda Labs, and includes that report. Pre-Columbian jade is noted for its iconography. What can be neater than a bat with crocodile wings!
