DESCRIPTION: A Chinese scholar’s porcelain water pot (or pourer) in the form of a brown bird perched on a light green melon. The bird would have been used as a handle for lifting the pot and pouring water onto an inkstone to mix the ink for use with a brush in calligraphy or painting. Excellent condition, all original with no chips and no repairs; dating from the 19th C., Qing Dynasty. DIMENSIONS: 5” long (12.6 cm) x 4 ½” high (11.5 cm).
