|DESCRIPTION: A pair of Japanese wood figures dressed in ivory masks and elaborately in-laid robes to represent characters from Japanese Noh theater. The robes have been profusely decorated with etched ivory inlays, and ivory is used for the faces, hands and implements of the figurers. First half of the 20th C.; excellent condition with signatures in red cartouches on both figures. DIMENSIONS: Taller figure is 10 ¾” high (27.3 cm) including pole; Shorter figure is 9” high (22.8 cm) including head ornament.|
