Vintage Shiwan Mudman Figure of Fisherman
DESCRIPTION: A quite collectible and good sized Shiwan (or Shekan) Mudman figure of a fisherman seated on a rock. His arms and legs are modeled quite powerfully to give an impression of quiet strength – a characteristic of these larger sized, handsome fishermen. In his raised right hand he holds a bamboo pole while gazing down at an illusive fish. The skin is left the natural color of the clay while his clothes are glazed. On the base is stamped “CHINA” with a number and the figure is in perfect condition. DIMENSIONS: 8” high (20.2 cm) x 4 ¾” wide (12 cm).
